Why Not Just Ban the Production and Use of Plastic Bags?

Are you concerned about the Environment? I'm sure that you care deeply for our world; however, you might not realize that plastic bags don't pollute it at all; rather they simply deface it! Additionally, people pollute our planet more than anything.

Switching to paper bags seems to be environmentally-friendly; however, that assumption would be incorrect as these items are environmentally destructive and contribute to deforestation and pollution due to production processes requiring chemicals like caustic soda and sulfuric acid, thus further polluting our air.

Plastic bags are an incredible technological feat of polymer science. Their creation was originally intended to save forests by replacing paper with polyethylene bags which degrade slowly over time, eliminating environmental contamination with heavy metal salts or toxins entering water bodies more readily than paper would do. Polyethylene food bags don't dissolve in water so won't pollute our planet either; its low cost makes this innovation truly amazing! Plastic is so safe it could even be considered humanity's lucky break!

No one expected it: humans have an issue with throwing things away, and plastic bags are too inexpensive, encouraging this bad habit. Unfortunately, the so-called pollution problem of plastic bags was actually defacing the environment; plastic bags could be seen everywhere and defaced the landscape; furthermore, microplastics entering oceans slowly also poses problems - all this was caused by humans having no control over themselves.

As I just recently became aware of microplastics, I view them differently when considering this issue. That is due to all kinds of particulate matter being found in seawater beyond just microplastics - more than 1000 substances have been documented! If microplastics can enter our bodies through ingestion then other particles like fibers, minerals, metals etc should, too - like human feces is composed of indigestible material residue, so I wouldn't presume to provide answers as I'm no expert.

Plastic bags improve productivity and living standards. Without them, production efficiency drops and living standards deteriorate further, leading to higher energy consumption and carbon emissions - not exactly something anyone expected?

Plastic bag bans present an economic challenge; I need not elaborate. Simply understand that all biodegradable plastics do not offer cost advantages over nonbiodegradable ones. So, how can we effectively address plastic bag pollution? Managing people is the answer.

Are we facing a technical problem here? Both yes and no - smart recycling technology may become available in the future; to say no would require reinventing urban lifestyle habits; for example, rediscover express delivery consumption habits anew - these plastic bags and cartons may seem complicated at first. But consider this: how could this issue have arisen without our intervention?

Degradation occurs when plastic turns into carbon dioxide and water. Each year, millions of tons of plastic degrade into greenhouse gas emissions - no doubt an impressive greenhouse effect! I consider plastic as fixing carbon: no great success here.
